Description

Canesten 3 vaginal tablets
clotrimazole
The active substance is clotrimazole.

The other ingredients are:
calcium lactate pentahydrate, corn starch, crospovidone, colloidal anhydrous silicon
dioxide, lactic acid, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, hypromellose,
microcrystalline cellulose.

1. WHAT CANESTEN 3 VAGINAL TABLETS ARE AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR

Canesten 3 vaginal tablets are available in a box of 3 vaginal tablets (1 x 3
vaginal tablets in a blister) and one inhaler.
1 vaginal tablet contains 200 mg of clotrimazole.
Clotrimazole, the active substance in Canesten, is a broad-spectrum imidazole derivative
antifungal action.
Clotrimazole acts on fungi by inhibiting the production of ergosterol. This results in structural and functional defects of the cytoplasmic membrane.

Canesten 3 vaginal tablets are used to treat genital infections (vaginitis) caused by fungi (most commonly Candida), trichomonas, and superinfections with bacteria sensitive to Canesten. To reliably cure Trichomonas vaginalis infections, your doctor should additionally prescribe oral trichomonacid. Such combination therapy is recommended only after an accurate diagnosis.

2. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU USE THE MEDICINE

CANESTEN 3 VAGINAL TABLETS

Do not use Canesten 3 vaginal tablets:
· If you are hypersensitive to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of Canesten 3
vaginal tablets. In this case, consult before using the drug
doctor.
Take special care with Canesten 3 vaginal tablets:
· Children and adolescents:
Do not use Canesten 3 vaginal tablets in patients under 18 years of age
we recommend or can only be used on the advice of a doctor. Research with
vaginal Canesten 3 tablets are not available in this group of patients.
· Canesten 3 vaginal tablets may reduce the effectiveness and safety of latex products (condoms, diaphragm). This effect is short-lived and after the end of treatment
disappears.

Pregnancy
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
The use of Canesten 3 vaginal tablets in the first three months of pregnancy is only appropriate if advised by a doctor. The use of a pad during pregnancy is not recommended, so the use of vaginal tablets without a pad is recommended during pregnancy.

3. HOW TO USE CANESTEN 3 VAGINAL TABLETS

You must use this medicine as prescribed in this leaflet (unless your doctor tells you otherwise). If you do not follow the instructions exactly, the medicine will not work properly.

Insertion of a vaginal tablet without an insert
Insert one Canesten 3 vaginal tablet with the washed hands as deep into the vagina as possible for three consecutive evenings. It is best to lie on your back with your legs slightly contracted.

1. First pull out the plunger of the injector until it stops. Place the vaginal tablet in the mouthpiece with the rounded part of the tablet (about half of the tablet) facing out. Squeeze the rounded part of the insert slightly with your fingers.
2. Push the inhaler as deep into the vagina as possible (it is best for the patient to lie on the
back).
3. Gently push the plunger all the way in until the tablet is inserted into the vagina.
Remove the driver.
4. After use, clean the cartridge carefully with hot water (not boiling).
The use of Canesten 3 vaginal tablets during menstruation is not recommended.
Symptoms caused by a fungal infection of the vagina usually improve within four days of starting treatment. If the signs of infection do not disappear completely, consult a doctor.
In candidal vaginitis, three days of treatment is sufficient. If necessary, you can
repeat the treatment.
Warning
If the vagina is dry, the vaginal tablet does not dissolve completely. The tablets, which can be seen on the underwear, are removed from the vagina. To avoid this,
we recommend that you insert the medicine as deep as possible into the vagina. If the vaginal tablet does not dissolve completely in one night, we recommend the use of a vaginal cream.
If you forget to use Canesten 3 vaginal tablets:
If you forget to take a dose in the evening, you can take it the next morning. If you have completely forgotten about the medicine, take one vaginal tablet next time (the dose should not be higher); continue treatment as recommended.
Effects when you stop using Canesten 3 vaginal tablets:
If you want to completely cure the fungal infection and prevent it from recurring, you should not end the treatment without consulting your doctor. If you decide to do this anyway, you run the risk of the disease recurring. Treatment should not be stopped as soon as the symptoms of the infection have disappeared, but should be continued as prescribed in this leaflet.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines, Canesten 3 vaginal tablets can have side effects.
Hypersensitivity reactions may occur (fainting, decrease in blood pressure, difficulty
breathing, digestive problems) or skin reactions (itching, skin rashes).
if these side effects occur for the first time or if the condition worsens, vaginal tablets
discontinue use and consult a physician.
