Description

1. WHAT ASPIRIN PLUS C IS, AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR

Aspirin plus C is available in boxes of 10, 20, or 40 tablets (5 x 2 tablets or 10 x 2 tablets in a double strip).
Each tablet contains 400 mg of acetylsalicylic acid and 240 mg of ascorbic acid.
Acetylsalicylic acid relieves pain, lowers fever, and has an anti-inflammatory effect. Vitamin C increases the body’s resistance to infectious diseases and physical exertion.
Aspirin plus C is used for the symptomatic relief of headaches, toothaches, sore throats, back pain, menstrual pain, muscle and joint pain, mild arthritis pain, and for the symptomatic relief of pain and lowering of fever. For colds or flu.

2. BEFORE YOU TAKE ASPIRIN PLUS C

Do not use Aspirin plus C if:
– you have an active ulcer in your stomach and duodenum
– you are prone to bleeding
– you are hypersensitive to acetylsalicylic acid and other salicylates or any of the other ingredients of Aspirin plus C
– after taking salicylates or substances with a similar action (nonsteroidal antirheumatic drugs), have ever had asthma attacks
– you are taking methotrexate (15 mg/week or more)
– you are in the last trimester of pregnancy.
 
Take special care with Aspirin plus C if:
– you are hypersensitive to other anti-inflammatory drugs, antirheumatic drugs, or other allergenic substances
– you have asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hay fever, or swollen nasal mucosa (nasal polyps)
– you have liver or kidney problems
– have you ever had gastrointestinal ulcers (chronic or recurrent gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding)
– you are being treated at the same time with:
other nonsteroidal antirheumatic drugs, systemic glucocorticoids, anticoagulants
thrombolytics/inhibitors of platelet aggregation (medicines that dissolve blood clots or prevent blood clotting), medicines to lower blood sugar (if you have diabetes), medicines to eliminate uric acid, medicines to reduce water retention blood pressure lowering medicines (angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors)
methotrexate, digoxin or valproic acid.
Concomitant consumption of alcoholic beverages increases the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.
 
Taking other medications
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
If you take medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid, you should consult a doctor or dentist before surgery (even before a minor, such as tooth extraction).
 
Important information about some of the ingredients of Aspirin plus C
Aspirin plus C contains sodium, which may harm patients on a low-sodium diet. One tablet contains 933 mg of sodium.
 
Pregnancy and lactation
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Aspirin plus C should not be taken during the last three months of pregnancy. Talk to your doctor about using Aspirin plus C during the first six months of pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
 
Children and adolescents
Due to the possibility of Reye’s syndrome (a rare but severe disease), medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid should only be used after prior medical advice.

3. HOW TO TAKE ASPIRIN PLUS C

The recommended doses are (unless otherwise prescribed):
For adults:
1-2 tablets (400-800 mg acetylsalicylic acid) can be retaken in 4 to 8 hours. The maximum daily dose is ten tablets (4000 mg acetylsalicylic acid).  
 
For children over 12 years of age:
The recommended daily dose of acetylsalicylic acid for children is 60 mg/kg body weight divided into 4 to 6 individual doses (15 mg/kg every 6 hours or 10 mg/kg every 4 hours). The recommended single dose is one tablet (400 mg acetylsalicylic acid).
Dissolve the tablet in a glass of water and drink it.
Take aspirin plus C for a maximum of three days. If symptoms persist or recur, consult a physician.
 
If you take more Aspirin plus C than you should
Talk to a doctor or pharmacist immediately if you take more than you should.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines, Aspirin plus C can have side effects.
Possible side effects include abdominal pain, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, noticeable or hidden gastrointestinal bleeding that may cause anemia (such bleeding is more common at higher doses), stomach and duodenal ulcers (up to perforation), and increased levels. Transaminases, hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., hives, skin reactions, anaphylactic reactions, asthma, Quincke’s edema), increased risk of bleeding. Dizziness and ringing in the ears may occur as symptoms of an overdose.

5. HOW TO STORE ASPIRIN PLUS C

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Store below 25 ° C.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton.
