The active substance is hypromellose (methylhydroxypropyl cellulose).
The other ingredients are cetrimide, sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sorbitol, disodium edetate, and water for injections.
1. What is Artelac, and what is it used for
Artelac is artificial tears. The solution is clear and colorless.
1 ml of solution contains 3.20 mg of hypromellose (methylhydroxypropyl cellulose); the viscosity of the solution is between 7 and 13 mPa.
The medicine is packed in boxes with 1 or 3 dropper containers of 10 ml each.
Artelac is used to treat degeneration of the cornea and conjunctiva (dry eye) due to disorders of the excretory system and tear function as a result of local or systemic ler disease in the absence or incomplete closure of the eyelids, which may manifest as stinging eyes, foreign body sensation, and tenderness. for light, wind, heat, and fatigue

Do not use Artelac if:
– you are hypersensitive to hypromellose or any of the other ingredients.
Take special care with Artelac:

– if you notice eye irritation (burning, redness, or a foreign body sensation in the eye). Tell your doctor.

Effects on the ability to drive and use machines
Do not drive or use any tools or machines for at least a few minutes after injecting Artelac into the conjunctival sac of the eye. Immediately after using the medicine, vision may become temporarily blurred.
Use of other drugs
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
When Artelac and other eye drops or ointments are used at the same time, the effect of the latter may be reduced because they are diluted and expelled from the conjunctival sac. Therefore, at least 15 minutes should elapse when two medicines are taken. Use eye drops and Artelac solution as a last resort because they must stay in the eye as long as possible for their long-lasting moisturizing effect.
3. How to use Artelac
Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The dosage for the “dry eye” disease picture is tailored to the individual. Instilling one drop of Artelac 3 to 5 times daily in a conjunctival sac is usually sufficient. You can instill the medicine more often if needed. The treatment of “dry eye” is long-lasting or even permanent. It is also essential to have several check-ups with an ophthalmologist. These examinations are necessary to prevent developing a severe illness with appropriate treatment.
The use of the drug is not limited in time.

Instructions for instillation
Tilt your head back. With the index finger of one hand, pull the lower eyelid down. With the other hand, hold the campaign container vertically above the eye (without touching the eye) and instill one drop of Artelac into the conjunctival sac.
Keep the eye open and move it to distribute the fluid well.
If you have a “dry eye,” also follow the instructions below:
• ventilate the room thoroughly several times a day
• drink enough fluids (at least 2 liters a day)
• go for fresh air often
• do not direct the eye to fans
• when working behind the screen, stop work several times for a short time
• check the condition with an ophthalmologist several times.
If you forget to take Artelac:
If you forget to take Artelac, do so as soon as you remember.
If you take more Artelac than you should:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you take more Artelac than you should. Remember to bring the container and the rest of the medicine with you.
There are no specific instructions for the treatment of Artelac overdose.
Effects when you stop taking Artelac:
Initial problems may recur when Artelac is discontinued. Do not stop taking Artelac even if your condition improves. Your doctor will tell you when you can stop taking the medicine.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Artelac can have side effects.
Swelling, irritation, stickiness of the eyelids, blurred vision, impaired sense of smell, and sensitivity to light may occur with Artelac. In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions in the eye may also occur. Artelac contains the preservative cetrimide, which may cause eye irritation, mainly when used frequently (tingling, redness, tingling sensation), and damage to the cornea with prolonged use.
If hypersensitivity reactions or irritations occur in the eye, discontinue use and consult a physician.

5. How to store Artelac
Do not store above 30 ° C. Keep out of the reach and sight of children
