Calpol 250 mg / 5 ml, oral suspension, 100 mL is an oral suspension.
5 ml of oral suspension (1 teaspoon) contains 250 mg of paracetamol.
It also contains sucrose, sorbitol solution, glycerol, dispersible cellulose, polysorbate 80, White Sugar flavor, orange flavor, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, SunsetYellow FCF (E 110), purified water.

How does Calpol 250 mg / 5 ml, oral suspension, 100 mL work?
Calpol 250 mg / 5 ml, oral suspension, 100 mL is an oral suspension. It contains paracetamol, which is an analgesic (painkiller) and antipyretic (antipyretic).
Calpol oral suspension is used for:
– lowering fever
– relief of symptoms in painful conditions of inflammatory origin (sore throat, earaches)
– relief of mild to moderate pain (headache, migraine, neuralgia, toothache, pain when erupting teeth, pain after injuries and after surgery, rheumatic pain, and pain in muscles and joints that accompany some colds and fevers)
– prophylaxis of local and systemic reactions during primary vaccination with Di-Te-Per (15 mg / kg at vaccination and again after 4 hours)
What you need to know before you use Calpol 250 mg / 5 ml, oral suspension, 100 mL?
Do not use Calpol if you are hypersensitive to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients. This medicine contains glycerol. In high doses it is harmful and can cause headaches and gastrointestinal disorders.
You should consult your doctor before using Calpol if you have severe kidney disease, severe liver damage or if you are taking other medicines.
What should you look for if you are taking other medicines?
When taken at the same time
– barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants and alcohol reduces the ability to metabolize higher doses of paracetamol, which prolongs the plasma half-life
– anticonvulsants or oral steroid contraceptives over a long period of time, accelerates the metabolism of paracetamol and its excretion from the body
– aikohol, exceeding the prescribed dose of paracetamol increases its hepatotoxicity
– anticoagulants (anticoagulants), the anticoagulant effect may be increased. This increases the risk of bleeding, but you can occasionally take paracetamol if you need a painkiller.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Calpol.
Important information about some of the ingredients of Calpol
The drug contains 2 g of sucrose. Take up to 2 g of sucrose with each dose if you are taking the medicine according to the dosing instructions. Unsuitable for congenital fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrose-isomaltase deficiency.
It contains 1.9 g of sorbitol. Take up to 1.9 g of sorbitol with each dose if you take the medicine according to the dosing instructions. It is unsuitable for people who have a congenital fructose intolerance. May cause gastrointestinal disturbances.
It also contains dyes that can cause allergic-type reactions, including asthma. Allergic reactions are more common in people who are hypersensitive to acetylsalicylic acid.

How to dose and use the drug
Shake the bottle well before use!
The dosage is adjusted to the age of the child or patient according to the scheme in the instructions!
The recommended doses can be repeated up to 4 times a day, but the interval between individual doses should be at least 4 hours. The maximum daily recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years of age is 4 g of paracetamol (16 tablespoons of 5 ml).
Without consulting a doctor, children can receive Calpol suspension for a maximum of 3 days. It is not suitable for children under 2 years of age, unless advised by a doctor. For children under 6 years of age, we recommend the use of Calpol suspension.
The elderly
The rate and extent of paracetamol absorption are normal in the elderly, but its plasma half-life is longer and excretion is slower than in younger adult patients.
If you have the impression that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not exceed the stated dose! If you think you have taken more than the prescribed dose, seek medical help immediately, even if you do not feel unwell, as an overdose of paracetamol can cause liver failure.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Calpol can have side effects. Side effects of paracetamol are rare. Allergic reactions, usually in the form of skin rashes, may occur. There are no cross-reactions with aspirin and other NSAIDs / antipyretics.
Exceptionally, adverse effects of paracetamol on the liver and kidneys have been reported with the prescribed use of the drug, and more such reports have been reported with significant overdose or previous severe hepatic or renal impairment.
