What is Calgel?

Calgel is a clear yellow, water-soluble, gel-free, herbal-flavored dental gel. 1 g of dental gel contains 3.3 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride and 1.0 mg of cetylpyridinium chloride.
 
It also contains sorbitol, xylitol, ethanol, glycerol, hydroxyethylcellulose 5000, macrogol glycerol ricinolate, macrogol lauryl ether, macrogol 300, sodium saccharinate, menthol, herbal aroma, caramel, purified water.
 
How does Calgel work?
 
Calgel is a local anesthetic. Lidocaine chloride local anesthetic. Cetylpyridinium chloride has antiseptic effects.

What is Calgel used for?

Calgel is used as a gum gel for the first growth of teeth. It works quickly, helps relieve pain when teething, and softens a baby’s gums. It also has mild antiseptic properties.
 
What do you need to know before you use Calgel?
 
Do not give to children who are hypersensitive to lidocaine chloride, cetylpyridinium chloride, or any of the other ingredients.
 
Do not exceed the stated dose! If you use more Calgel than you should, stop treatment and talk to your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
 
Interactions with other medicines

Important information about some of the ingredients of Calgel

It contains glycerol, which is harmful in high doses. May cause headaches and gastrointestinal disturbances.
 
This medicine contains 210 mg sorbitol per 1 g gel. Take up to 35 mg of sorbitol with each dose if you are taking the medicine according to the dosing instructions. Unsuitable for children with congenital fructose intolerance. May cause gastrointestinal disturbances.

How to use and dose Calgel?

Calgel is suitable for children from 3 months of age.
 
Squeeze a small amount of gel, about 7 mm, onto the tip of a clean finger and gently rub it into the sore gum.
 
After 20 minutes, you can repeat the process.
 
The gel can be applied up to 6 times in one day if necessary. Follow your doctor’s advice when using this medicine.
 
If you have the impression that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Calgel can have side effects.
Reports indicate individual cases of hypersensitivity to lidocaine chloride. If side effects occur, discontinue treatment and consult a physician. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet.
